Ragna Crimson Episode 2 Review

Ragna Crimson Episode 2 Review: My Sister's Right, But My Heart Hates It.

Yo, dragon slayers! Welcome back. We're here to talk about anime and just be honest about it, no fancy words needed.

If you’re here, you probably read my Episode 1 review, where I admitted my sister strong-armed me into watching Ragna Crimson. I still think this show is good. But seriously, Episode 2 was great, even though it totally stomped on my feelings.

The Ragna & Leo Problem (My Hill, I'm Dying On It)

Look, I’m just going to say it: The way the story handled Ragna and Leo's relationship after the whole rebirth thing is not for me. It sucked.

I loved the sweet, protective vibe they had in the first episode. It made Ragna's sadness real, and his mission mattered more. Then, boom, Episode 2 happens, and that relationship is tossed into a meat grinder for the sake of moving the plot. I feel ripped off.

However. and this is the one good thing I'll say I gotta admit the writers know what they're doing. They see how sad this whole situation is. They understand the big price Ragna paid for his power, and that knowledge keeps it from being bad writing. It’s tough to watch, but I'll stick with it because it seems to be setting up an even more interesting, if painful, path for Ragna. My opinion stays the same: I don't like it, but I respect the hustle.

Introducing: Crimson 🍷 (And the Real Question)

The real star, and the reason I'm over the Ragna/Leo mess, is the big entrance of Crimson.

This character/unit totally changed the vibe. We went from crazy fighting to smart, cold strategy, and I am obsessed. Crimson is a total genius, self-centered, and a glorious mess whose arrival instantly cranked up the tension from "how do they kill this dragon?" to "who is really running this whole show?" The team-up between the super-strong Ragna and the calculating Crimson is just awesome to watch.

But let’s move past the serious talk and get to the real question that has the entire fandom and me in a chokehold:

The real star of this episode, and the one that makes me forgive the Ragna/Leo drama, is the big entrance of Crimson.

Let's be real, I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with this character. First, Crimson is introduced looking like one thing a girl and then suddenly the show starts treating them like a guy. I am officially confused, and that's the fun of it! This character is a total genius, self-centered, and a glorious mess whose arrival instantly cranked up the tension from "how do they kill this dragon?" to "who is really running this whole show?" The team-up between the super-strong Ragna and the calculating Crimson is just awesome to watch. They totally changed the vibe. We went from crazy fighting to smart, cold strategy, and I am obsessed.

The Final Score

My feelings about Ragna and Leo aside, this was a strong second episode. It needed to slow down, tell us the plan, and bring in the brains of the operation.

The show still looks great, the talks are good, and the whole setup for the Dragon War is set. Episode 1 was a punch to the gut, but Episode 2 was the smart move that sets this story up for greatness.

What did you guys think? Did the Ragna/Leo situation ruin your mood too? And seriously, drop a comment below and let me know your final, simple verdict on Crimson. Since we don't even know what we're dealing with dragon, human, male, female let’s simplify things:

Regardless of gender, species, or the fact they might be 500 years old: SMASH OR PASS?
